Celebrate All Saints Day with a Fun Dress-Up Party!

It's that time of year again - All Saints Day is just around the corner! This is such a special feast day, and what better way to celebrate than with a fun dress-up party? Gather your little saints-in-training and get ready for a day celebrating our friends in heaven.

Dress Up as Your Favorite Saint

All Saints Day is a great day to have a party and invite friends to dress up as a saint. This is a great way to encourage children to get to know the saints. Older children can be encouraged to research their saint and share facts and stories of the life of the saint. Parish parties or home parties can include a fun game of guessing who each participant is dressed as. It doesn't take much! Just use whatever you have available or you can make a trip to a resale store or a dollar store to get more involved. Whether it's St. Francis of Assisi in a brown robe, St. Therese of Lisieux with her roses, or St. Joan of Arc in shining armor, the possibilities are endless.

Learn About the Saints

Of course, an All Saints Day party isn't just about the costumes. It's also a great opportunity to dive deeper into the lives of the saints. Set up different "saint stations" around the room, each featuring information, activities, and crafts related to favorite saints. Kids can rotate through the stations, learning about the saints and completing fun projects.

Feast Fit for the Saints

No party is complete without delicious food, and an All Saints Day celebration is no exception. Get the kids involved in the kitchen, whipping up treats inspired by the saints. Maybe St. Lucy's famous saffron buns, St. Nicholas' gingerbread men, or St. Brigid's Irish soda bread. Or you can serve foods that remind party goers of the saints - candy pumpkins for St. Isadore the farmer, animal crackers for St. Francis or rose cookies for St. Therese.

Pray and Celebrate

Of course, we can't forget the most important part of the day - taking time to pray and celebrate the communion of saints. Lead the group in a rosary or other saint-themed prayers, and don't forget to sing some hymns too. This is a great way to remind the kids that the saints are our friends in heaven, always ready to intercede for us.

Happy All Saints Day!
