Inspired by the classic Catholic poem, “The May Magnificat” by Jesuit Priest and poet Gerard Manley Hopkins, our May Magnificat print is a gorgeous celebration of the Blessed Mother and new life.
Dancing on the deep spruce background, are the joyful signs of spring listed by Fr. Hopkins in the poem. Cherry and apple blossoms, the throstle on her nest, the cuckoo, eggs, feathers, grasses and blooms. The lamb and bunny leap across the spread, welcoming May- the month of Mary.
Most important of all, is the Blessed Mother, cradling baby Jesus in her arms.
On the reverse, we’ve featured a lovely light sky blue-gray stripe.
