Our Lady of the Snows 8 x 8 art print (12 x 12 total size matted)
This is one of the oldest devotions to Mary, beginning with a miracle in 4th century Rome. Mary appeared to a Roman couple in a dream, asking for a church to be built. She told them they would know the spot because it would be covered in snow. Then, on the steaming hot morning of August 5th, Rome awoke to see Esquiline Hill covered in snow. No one could deny the miracle, and so the church was built. That church has been restored many times, but still stands today as the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
